A 27-year-old Ennis man is in custody on charges of murder in connection to an alleged killing Saturday night in Bardwell.

Roberto Costilla was arraigned Sunday morning and is currently held in the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Waxahachie on $1 million in bonds.

JoAnn Livingston, Ellis County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, said the sheriff’s office was notified of a stabbing and shooting at approximately 11:26 p.m. Saturday night in the 400 block of East Commerce Street in Bardwell.

Deputies arrived to find an adult man and woman lying dead in the kitchen of the home. A second adult male was found lying fatally wounded in the hallway. That man was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas where he was pronounced dead.

A witness described the suspect’s vehicle to dispatchers, and identified the suspect as Costilla. Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety spotted the vehicle, and after a brief pursuit with ECSO deputies stopped it and arrested Costilla in Italy.

Livingston said the Bardwell home has been secured as a crime scene and the investigation is ongoing. She said the identities of the victims are being withheld pending the confirmation of their identities by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office.

More information will be available in Tuesday’s edition of The Ennis Daily News.
