Four convenience store clerks were arrested over the weekend for selling alcohol to minors.
According to Ennis police, the arrests were made as part of a buying operation. Police sent a 17-year-old into 11 locations in total. Four of the stores sold to minors. Seven didn’t.
The stores who did sell to the minor, according to police, are Mr. Discount at 1205 E. Ennis Ave., McClain’s Food Store at 301 W. Brown, Avenue Drive-In at 407 W. Ennis Ave., and Quick Pantry at 2201 W. Ennis Ave.
According to Det. Sgt. Jason York, who was part of the arrest team, selling to minors is a Class B misdemeanor.
For one of the arrested men, 33-year-old Quick Pantry worker Himal Thapa, it was the second time in the past month that he was arrested for selling to a minor.
The other people arrested in the operation were 20-year-old Alma Hernandez-Nino, 31-year-old Bianca Rios and 50-year-old Sheila Thomas.
York said the department is planning to send letters to the seven stores that didn’t sell to the minor, to commend them for doing their job properly.
